John Lowrie Morrison OBE

Possibly the most well known living oil painter in Scotland, John is well known for his powerful lanscapes using a bold, imaginative colour palette to convey the richness, beauty and history of the land, sea and communities of the west coast of Scotland. After graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1971 and spending many years teaching and administering art in education, the demand for his work was such that in 1996 John was able to pursue his passion for paint on a full time basis. In 2011 he was awarded an OBE for Services to Art and to Charity in Scotland. More recently he was also recognised with a Lifetime Achievement award at the Savoy Hotel, at a celebration of the success of Scots with a connection to London.
